We love the excitement and all the emotions that come with doing secret proposal photography in Iceland. So we were very happy that these two American lovebirds, J+T, chose us to document their adventurous waterfall proposal! They were on vacation in Iceland and had travelled all the way from Seattle in the United States.
J, who is an incredible scooter rider, had contacted us a few months prior to the proposal. We plotted on the phone and exchanged a few emails, before we came up with the perfect plan for how we would go about it all on the day of the proposal. It was very important to J that it would be a surprise proposal and he did not want his girlfriend, T, to suspect anything. So, we decided it would be best if we pretended to be tourists, that just so happened to be exploring and taking pictures at the same waterfall that they were at. While taking photos of the waterfall we also made sure to keep a close eye on J+T and made sure that we were close enough to them to be ready to capture the moment but not too close as not to raise any suspicion.
When J+T got to "the proposal spot" J gave us the “let’s do this”-look and we were ready to document him asking his girlfriend one of the biggest and happiest questions of his life. Since we had two photographers we were able to position ourselves so that one photographer (Hobie) could capture the side profile of J+T with the waterfall behind them and the other photographer (Halldóra) could capture T's expression. It all went perfectly, she said "Yes!" and they both were so incredible! After J had popped the question and T had come down after the shock of the surprise proposal we then ended the photoshoot with a few nice engagement photos.
